River Kwai Magical Cruise
The River Kwai Cruise was probably the most exciting part of shooting our TV show Travel by Dart there. I felt incredibly emotional, and that’s not like me. Let me share these moments with you, as you have a video below.
When I threw the dart while blindfolded in Cambodia and hit Thailand, I didn’t expect such an incredible journey that spread throughout two episodes.
I did the River Kwai cruise with an unbelievable ship called RV River Kwai. which you should definitely check out if you go to Thailand.

The Historic Bridge on the River Kwai
The focal point of this journey is, undoubtedly, the historic bridge itself. The Bridge on the River Kwai gained international fame through the novel and subsequent film adaptations.
The bridge, built during World War II by Allied prisoners of war under Japanese supervision, is a symbol of the sacrifices made during that tumultuous time.
History of the Bridge
Construction of the bridge began in 1942 as part of the infamous Death Railway, intended to connect Thailand to Burma. The project claimed the lives of thousands of POWs and Asian laborers under brutal conditions. Despite the hardships, the bridge is a testament to human resilience and determination.
Exploring the Bridge
Visitors can walk across the bridge, admiring its intricate steel trusses and wooden planks. Along the way, plaques provide historical context, detailing the construction process and the impact of the railway on the lives of those involved.
The nearby JEATH War Museum further delves into the history of the Death Railway, showcasing artifacts and personal accounts.
Admission Fee: 40 Thai Baht (approximately $1.30)
JEATH War Museum: Entrance fee is 120 Thai Baht (roughly $4)Scenic Train Journey
For a truly immersive experience, hop aboard the Death Railway Train, which traverses the historic railway tracks, affording breathtaking views of the River Kwai and surrounding landscapes.
The rhythmic clatter of the wheels and the gentle swaying of the train offers a unique perspective on the historical significance of the route.
Train Ticket: Prices start at 100 Thai Baht (approximately $3) for the third class. However, there is 300 Thai Baht ($10) for the second class, and 1,000 Thai Baht (around $33) for the first class.
Hellfire Pass
A short distance from Kanchanaburi, Hellfire Pass is another poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during the construction of the Death Railway. Named for the torches that lit the night as prisoners toiled on the rock cutting, Hellfire Pass is a deep, narrow gorge that once posed immense challenges to the laborers.
Today, a memorial and walking trail allow visitors to explore the site and pay their respects to those who suffered and perished here.
Admission Fee: Free
Guided Tours: Available for approximately 500 Thai Baht (approximately $16) per person.
